These past few months, I have been experiencing some disappointment. I prayed and believed in The Lord to open a door, but it did not happen. What made this disappointment hit so much harder was that I was so confident it would happen. Everything seemed to be lining up.
As you can imagine, when the opportunity did not come about it was not easy to process. The Lord has lifted me up from that low place, but there is still some disappointment I feel. There were so many lies and fears that started to flood my mind. Unfortunately, I began to give into some of it. But God, in His goodness, lifted me up.
As I have continued to process, the biggest thing I have taken comfort in is knowing it was God’s will for it to not happen.
When we leave something in God’s hands, that is an act of surrender. Something you surrender is something you have no control over. Yes, we can do our part, but God has to be the one that allows it to happen. We can take comfort in knowing if it is God’s will then He knows what and when is best.
Here are some scriptures I am clinging to. I hope and pray they uplift you through your disappointment.
Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
Isaiah 55:8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
